Recognized as one of Costa Rica’s premier insurance companies, Adisa is ranked top 3 in the life and health insurance market, holds an AA- (cri) from Fitch Ratings, and serves over 600,000+ insureds through a fully integrated digital platform. We are proud to call this esteemed company a member of the Insurope Network!
As a leader in the market, Adisa has developed a robust service provider network that includes most of the major medical centers, labs, over 540 network physicians and specialists, and 150 pharmacies. All of this is accessible through a paperless digital platform, including online enrollment and invoicing, digital policy issuing, telemedicine, paperless claims processing, digital management tools, and wellness programs.
Together with brokers, Adisa works with Multinational companies to offer tailored solutions for their employee benefit offerings in Costa Rica. In addition, they partner with El Roble, Insurope’s Network Member in Guatemala, to offer regional poolable solutions. These “tropicalized” solutions allow companies to offer different benefits in the different countries in the region, administered locally, but insured and pooled centrally.
Overseen by Superintendencia General de Seguros de Costa Rica (SUGESE), Costa Rica has a well-established regulatory framework for insurance. According to AM Best, the insurance market in Costa Rica grew by 13% last year and 6% as of June 2023. The growth has been impacted by loosening restrictions imposed during the pandemic among other drivers. However, a shifting landscape is nothing new to Adisa. Soon after the Costa Rican law changed in 2009, formally giving way to an open insurance market after 80+ years of a state-owned monopoly, Adisa was authorized in December 2010 by SUGESE to operate in Costa Rica and has maintained a leading position in the insurance market since then. We expect the market and Adisa is posed for continued growth.
Adisa is committed to social welfare and offers a wide range of solutions. Adisa also believes that its insurance offerings are only as good as the team that supports them—and the company takes that seriously. The company considers its people, culture, and mission one of its greatest strengths. In an ever-changing landscape, the organization is also committed to innovation and the use of technology to enhance their customer experience while maintaining their excellence in personalized customer service. Their focus on listening to customers’ needs, knowledge sharing, and teamwork are the catalyst for Adisa’s signature agility and adaptability in the Costa Rican market. In fact, flexibility is a key differentiator in how Adisa works with customers and intermediaries to serve as a strong partner for today and into the future.
